Linking your Rivian account
Linking your Rivian account
Roamer reads your vehicle's data through your Rivian account. You sign in with Rivian once, and Roamer keeps the access token Rivian issues, never your password.
Updated Oct 21, 2026
How linking works
- Enter your Rivian email and password. They go straight to Rivian, and Roamer never stores them.
- Enter the two-factor code Rivian sends you. It passes straight to Rivian too.
- Rivian returns an access token, and Roamer stores it encrypted.
Rivian's tokens expire after a while. Roamer emails you before yours does, and reconnecting takes a minute.
Is it safe?
Roamer never sees your password after you submit it, and never stores it. Roamer only reads: nothing can be sent to your vehicle. To cut Roamer off at any time, unlink the account in Roamer, or change your Rivian password, which signs out every app and device using your account.
What Roamer reads
Vehicle details, software versions, charging and drive data, and location for maps. Roamer never sells your data, and shares it only with the providers that run Roamer and the services you connect, such as an AI assistant. The Privacy Policy has the details.
Use a secondary driver account
This step is optional. A second Rivian account keeps Roamer's access apart from your own sign-in, and you can remove it from your vehicle at any time.
- Create a Rivian account with a plus alias of your email, such as you+roamer@example.com.
- In the Rivian app, signed in as yourself, open Drivers and Keys, tap Share Vehicle Access, then Invite a Driver.
- Invite the new address, then accept the invitation from that inbox.
- Link the new account to Roamer.
Repeat the invitation for each vehicle you want in Roamer, including any you buy later.
If linking fails
- Use the email you sign in to Rivian with.
- Enter the two-factor code right away. It expires within minutes.
- Sign in to the Rivian app with the same account to confirm it works there.
Your vehicle isn't showing up
A secondary account sees a vehicle only after it accepts the driver invitation. Sign in to the Rivian app as that account to check. If the vehicle is there, unlink and link again. Some details appear only after a drive or a charge.
Drives with no map
The linked Rivian account has Hide Location turned on, so Roamer records drives and charges without a location. In the Rivian app, open Location and turn Hide Location off, for the secondary account if you use one. The next drive or charge records a map.
