New Rivian Assistant

Rivian Assistant is now available on the R2 vehicle. Use the AI-powered, in-vehicle Rivian Assistant to help with the following:

  • Control vehicle settings, climate control, navigation, media, messaging and calling.
  • Reference the Owner's Guide with your voice.
  • Answer general knowledge or follow-up questions. You can ask about local restaurants, the weather at your destination, or the song that was just played.
  • Explain in-vehicle alerts or notifications or walk you through troubleshooting steps for vehicle concerns.

How to Use

To use Rivian Assistant, complete the first-time setup on the center display. To activate Rivian Assistant:

  • On the steering wheel, push in the right Haptic Halo Wheel.
  • Tap Rivian Assistant in the status bar on the center display.
  • Say "Okay, Rivian," or “Hey, Rivian.”

To stop a command or interaction, tap the Rivian Assistant wave graphic on the center display. To learn more about Rivian Assistant, ask it about what it can do. To opt out or deactivate the wake words, go to Settings > Rivian Assistant on the center display. For more information, go to the Owner's Guide and search for Rivian Assistant.

How to Personalize

In the Rivian mobile app version 3.17 or later, you can personalize your Rivian Assistant experience through Rivian Intelligence. Go to Account > Rivian Intelligence to turn on these features:

  • Google Calendars: Connect your calendars (from the same Gmail account) so you can create, re-schedule, or navigate to events using Rivian Assistant.
  • Gmail integration: Rivian Assistant now connects with Gmail, so you can read, search, and get summaries of your emails hands-free while driving. To link your Gmail account, go to Rivian Intelligence in the Rivian mobile app. You can also view your connected account from the center display in your vehicle.
  • Memory: Rivian Assistant learns your preferences over time, such as favorite music genres, restaurants, and regular destinations, including work or school drop-off locations. You can turn off Memory or delete the stored details at any time.

NOTES

  • The mobile app saves the Rivian Intelligence settings to your driver profile and applies them to any Rivian vehicle you drive.
  • Rivian Assistant is available on vehicles that are actively subscribed to Connect+ or are in a trial period.
  • Rivian Assistant is only available in English.
  • Google Calendar and Memory are turned off by default. Opt in to use these features.

Navigation Improvements

We improved Navigation by adding the following:

  • You can now name and re-order your saved locations, which you access through the Favorites menu or Rivian Assistant.
  • The charger category search now uses the same charger filters and pins as the map of charging stations.
  • Sites that may require multiple plug-ins for a successful charge now appear with lower charging scores. Where possible, charging scores also factor in your vehicle’s specific charge port type.
  • Electric Era now appears as a fast-charging network across 16 states, located at retail locations such as Chevron, Costco, and Love's.

Programmable Liftgate Height

You can now set a custom opening height for the powered liftgate, which is useful when a garage has a low ceiling or when the vehicle is carrying a bike rack. To set the custom height: 1. Open the liftgate to the height you want, and then press and hold the liftgate button to pause it. 2. Press and hold the interior liftgate button for three seconds until the vehicle plays a chime and flashes the hazard lights once. To reset the liftgate height: 1. Open the liftgate. 2. Wait for it to reach its programmed height. 3. Press and hold the interior liftgate button for three seconds. The vehicle plays two chimes and flashes the hazard lights twice to confirm the height is reset. For more information, go to the Owner's Guide and search for powered liftgate.

Pet Comfort: New Mobile App Controls and Pet Cam

Now you can use the Rivian mobile app version 3.17 or later to turn Pet Comfort on or off when you’re away from your vehicle. The Pet Cam view lets you check in on your pet from the app while Pet Comfort is active and live streaming is available.

NOTES

  • Pet Cam requires an active Connect+ subscription.
  • If someone is inside the cabin and Pet Cam is live streaming, the center display provides an option to turn off live streaming and protect privacy.

Additional Improvements

  • Improved the scrolling behavior and haptic feedback of the Haptic Halo Wheels.
  • Autonomy
    • Attention warnings during Universal Hands-Free and Highway Assist now dynamically adjust their timing and escalation based on real-time road and traffic complexity, delivering a more intuitive drive.
    • Improved the Driver Attention Detection model to respond more accurately when you’re wearing sunglasses.
  • Vehicle dynamics: Improved steering feel during hard acceleration.
  • Vehicle access
    • Fixed an issue that kept the vehicle from locking or unlocking until it was restarted.
    • Your doors no longer automatically lock when you shift out of P (Park) while the driver door is open, so you won't get locked out at a car wash or if you step out briefly.
    • Improved performance of passive entry for drivers with Google Pixel 9, 10, or 11 phones.
    • The vehicle now reliably warns you that a door, liftgate, or front trunk is open, even if one of the other closures isn’t reporting properly.
  • Charging
    • Improved the design and notifications of the Energy app for a better user experience.
    • Improved messaging if the vehicle automatically pauses 120 V outlet power to prioritize charging speeds while the vehicle is charging and Outlets are set to Auto.
    • Fixed an issue that temporarily caused the charging graph to show outdated information after the vehicle was plugged into a Tesla Supercharger.

Apple Music

  • Improved load times for library and search and improved the reliability of artwork and song details.
  • Fixed the main issues that caused playback to stop, pause unexpectedly, or lose audio after phone calls, network drops, or extended periods when the vehicle was off.
  • Fixed an issue that caused some users to have trouble signing into their accounts.
  • Fixed a rare issue where media playback failed to start or stopped after 15 seconds.
  • Spotify
    • Increased the number of albums available on the Artist page.
    • Fixed an issue where tapping album art on the media player didn’t open the album or podcast page for the currently playing track.

Climate

  • Improved climate control to provide consistent cabin comfort in cold weather.
  • If the cabin climate is warming up or cooling down, the vehicle now displays the Seat Climate icon with the corresponding Heat or Ventilate icon but doesn't automatically heat or ventilate the seat.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the cabin air vents to point upwards instead of returning to their saved positions after you used the defrost feature.
  • Gear Guard
    • External storage drive usage:
      • Expanded compatibility with additional portable Solid State Drives (SSDs) to more reliably record Road Cam videos and copy Gear Guard videos from the vehicle to your USB device.
      • Improved detection to reduce unnecessary requests to reformat or re-connect the drive. (Thanks,

RivianTrackr!)

  • Fixed an issue that restarted the center display during setup or formatting.
  • Improved the user interface, including fixes for missing or incorrect graphics, text, and controls.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented new Motion Cam events and saved Road Cam clips from appearing on the center display.
  • Towing a trailer
    • Improved trailer weight estimation to obtain more accurate range estimates.
    • Fixed an issue that kept the Rear Cross-Traffic Warning unavailable message from appearing on the rear camera view.
  • Fixed issues with the garage door opener feature, so it better detects when you approach or depart from a paired garage door.
  • Infotainment
    • Improved responsiveness when you opened the Settings app on the center display.
    • Fixed an issue that caused the center display clock to show an incorrect time after the vehicle woke from sleep.
    • Fixed issues that caused the displays to restart repeatedly after a vehicle restart or show black screens for several seconds when you re-entered the vehicle.
